My dear friends in Christ,
Jesus chides His disciples on the journey to Capernaum, learning that they were discussing who was the greatest. This is a popular argument among adults. We probably do this more than we should. We love to brag about what we have. We like to show off our fancy car or fine jewelry. We like to show our friends the raise in our paycheck. We concern ourselves with being the greatest and humility takes a back seat. Jesus reminds us that “if anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Jesus equates greatness with servant hood. Do we strive to help and to serve others with compassion and humility? Oh, and who is the greatest? Jesus Christ is the greatest and by His act of supreme love in self-sacrifice on the Cross gives us the ultimate image of greatness.
Oktoberfest tickets are on sale now! Don’t be shut out! Our Super 50/50 will be drawn at the dinner. If you would like another book or could help selling some books, it would be greatly appreciated. This is our big fundraiser of the year!
Religious Education begins next Sunday at 10:00 AM. Registration continues this week.
And, finally, I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts while I was at the Diocesan Priests Convocation last week. All the priests give thanks for your prayers and continued support and they continue to pray for people in their respective parishes. In this time of healing, we continue to be your servants. Please continue to pray for us.
May God bless you all!
Father John
