My dear friends in Christ,
Do you see what Jesus promises us: that we are women and men, teens and kids, all consecrated in truth? We have this certainty: that we have God who is love and truth abiding in us. What other certainties are there in this world, so sorely in need of truth and joy? It is an appropriately fitting Gospel reading for the Catholic Community of Burlington Pike as we transition from Phase 1 Youth Ministry to Phase 2 Evangelization in our Faith In Our Future Initiative. Jesus calls us and makes us his truth bearers—consecrated in truth, bathed in truth, anointed in truth, and fed and strengthened in truth. We are called to the mission of the truth, rooted in beauty and the good to bring all people into participation. How do we do that? We do that by inviting and welcoming family members, friends, colleagues and those fallen away or lapsed Catholics back into our Church. We accompany and journey with them as beacons of encouragement and hope. That is our call to evangelization and carrying out the mission to build up the kingdom of God in our Church. Our May Crowning is this weekend. The Altar Rosary Society will crown the Blessed Mother at the 4:00pm Mass on Saturday. The First Holy Communion class will crown the Blessed Mother at the 9:30am Mass on Sunday.
And as you see to the right of this column, please make plans to wish Fr. Ray Lennon farewell as he retires to the SVD headquarters in Techny, Illinois. There will be a Mass and celebration on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
And, last, but certainly not least, to all of our Mothers, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
May God bless you all!
Father John
