My dear friends in Christ,
In today’s Gospel, Jesus prays to the Father on behalf of His disciples. He speaks to the Father about glory. The glory Jesus speaks of means many things: strength, help, love, presence. Jesus prays for us and says to the Father: “I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world” (John 17:11). As Jesus speaks to the Father about glory which could mean many things such as strength, help, and love, it also means that we must be present as we await the coming of the Lord. We pray for this during Mass during the Eucharistic prayer. We should be less and less in the world caving to selfishness and sin. We should be more in the world making every effort to follow Jesus and to share with others what He shared with us. He shared with us what He shared with the Father. That’s discipleship—to first learn from the Master and then go out and continue His work by helping others to learn how to be like the Master. We will be good when we challenge others to go out and proclaim the message of Jesus.
On this Memorial Day, we remember those who gave their all for us to live free today. We honor those men and women who died for our country.
On Sunday June 25th at the 11:30am Mass, I will officially be installed as your Pastor of Corpus Christi Church by Fr. Pfleger, Episcopal Vicar for Burlington County. More details next week.
May God bless you all!
