My dear friends in Christ,
Sometimes we all feel like Elijah. We see and hear the terrible things that are going on in the Church. We sense that the challenges of our jobs and lives are uphill battles. We feel the frustration, anger, and bitterness. We imagine our journey to be desert-like when we become fed-up, tired and weary. We are tempted to say, “This is enough, O Lord!” just as Elijah did. Our second reading tells us to forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. The good news is that the Lord provides nourishment through the Eucharist. This is the strength we need because this is the true presence of the Lord in our midst. In our Gospel, Jesus said: “ I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."
I wish to thank those who have responded to the Annual Catholic Appeal with recent donations. Pledge cards are available in the back of the Church and can be placed in the collection basket or simply mailed directly into the Diocese with your gift.
We welcome the Sisters of the Servants of the Plan of God to Corpus Christi Church this weekend. Our second collection this weekend will benefit the missionary work that they do in Latin America, Italy, Philippines, and Angola. Please be as generous as your means will allow.
Now is the time to sign up for Religious Education which begins on September 30, 2018. Please refer to the bulletin article for details.
May God bless you all!
Father John
