My dear Friends in Christ,
How many times have you heard someone say: “Forget that, you need to look out for number one!” The Church has condemned and criticized this attitufe as self-centered and unchristian. Unfortunately, looking our for number one is the main object and goal of far too many. Christianity has condemned and criticized this “me-first” mentality. Our focus should be on giving of ourselves and looking out for the needs of others rather than our own. So why are some people blind and insensitive? Our Gospel tells us that a blind person cannot lead another blind person. Jesus was speaking of spiritual blindness. The Christian leader must be steadfast in faith and comfortable in his or her spiritual maturity. The focus can’t always be self-centered. Look out for number one. Not for selfish reasons, but for sanctification reasons. Be humble and Christ-like. That is all that is asked of us.
The 2022 Annual Catholic Appeal is well underway. We “kicked-off” last week in our parish. “What does love have to do with it … Everything!” Help us share in the Diocese of Trenton. Remember, Love is not what you say, Love is what you do. Please return your pledge cards with your check or money order made payable to Annual Catholic Appeal and mail to Diocese of Trenton, Department of Development, P O Box 70170, Newark, NJ 07101. Thank you for helping our parish meet our goal, and for your continued generosity.
Ash Wednesday Masses are 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Stations of The Cross will be held Friday evenings in the Church at 5:30 PM. Please see details in this bulletin.
May God bless you all,
Father John
