My dear friends in Christ,
“The man sowed good seed in his field. Then the enemy came in the night and sowed weeds throughout the field.” For those in ministry, reflect on your early days as minister. God planted in you seeds of ministry that others fed and watered. Were they patient with you, allowing you to grow, gently correcting and helping you “weed” you life in ministry, allowing you to grow to a more perfect and beautiful creation? Today’s readings call for a spirit of hope and patience for all. We must allow God’s forgiveness to bring us strength and allow the many gifts he gives us to flower. We must be patient with the evil one who will always try to sow weeds in the good that we do. It shouldn’t matter if you truly believe that God is by your side in all “fields of life.” Speaking of weeds, you may have noticed the beautiful landscaping of our Parish grounds. I would like to thank the anonymous parishioner who has offered to contribute financially for this work.
Adjacent to this column, you will see the Religious Education News. Please pay attention to the change in day and time of our program from Tuesday evening to Sunday morning. We will begin cleaning out the old Religious Articles Shop next week. This will become the Religious Education Resource Room. This is to alleviate the problem of children and parents wandering around upstairs in the school. All religious education students will check in at the table in front of this room. Religious Education begins October 1, 2017.
Next week, I will talk about our evening of Taize Prayer in honor of the victims of 9/11 taking place on 9/11/2017.
May God bless you all!
