My dear Friends in Christ,
“Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths.” The Second Sunday of Advent gives us the opportunity to prepare our hearts in faithful waiting, celebrate the birth of Jesus, and ready ourselves for His second coming. This week, we pause to remember who God is and what He has done for us. When our lives are hurried, we only have the chance to focus on our to-do lists. Making space in our schedules for prayer and meditation helps us to better see God at work in our lives and in our world. May God’s spirit transform the days leading up to Christmas into a time of holy anticipation; preparing our hearts, as we faithfully await the chance to celebrate the arrival of our king.
Having provided the Annual Financial Report and meeting with the Finance Council and Parish Pastoral Council, we discussed our position having finished the year operating at a deficit. The good news is that it is not an insurmountable deficit. If we have a ‘STRONG” Christmas collection, we might slice the deficit considerably. Our Parish Finance Council and I are working on ways to combat future deficits and place our parish in a viable position as the Northern Burlington Deanery study continues.
A word of thanks to the Knights of Columbus and our maintenance men for their hard work and dedication in setting up the Manger in front of our new Christmas Tree.
May God bless you all,
Father John
