My dear friends in Christ,
We begin the Season of Lent this week on Ash Wednesday, February 17th. Things will look a little different this year. Please be aware that this is not a Holy Day of Obligation. The Church has never obliged attendance at Mass or the imposition of ashes on this day. However, to accommodate you, the faithful, we will have Mass with Distribution of Ashes at 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM here at Corpus Christi. Ashes will be distributed at the end of each Mass via Q-tip to the forehead so as to avoid person to person contact as per Diocesan guidelines. It is our goal to maintain social distancing and keep everyone safe.
We will not have Soup and Stations this year. Indoor dining is restricted and the guidelines prohibit the passing out of booklets for the Stations of The Cross. More information will be provided with regards to livestream or recorded Stations around the Diocese.
We will begin a Bible study program for Lent entitled No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion, a video study program which will run Sunday, February 21st to Sunday, March 28th at 2:00 PM in Bogdan Hall. Please see related article in this week’s bulletin. Please refer to the Lent regulations published in this bulletin.
This Lent may seem a bit different but together we will continue to navigate through this pandemic with compassion, charity, and love. May God watch over us and protect us. And …
May God bless you all,
Father John
