My dear friends in Christ,
The prophet Isaiah speaks with great authority on behalf of the Lord to the people. He tells them that they must observe and then do — put into action. It is very hard for any of us to be a doer as well as a hearer of the Word. In this time of Pandemic and conflict it is especially difficult. We are called to do that which will effect change; change that is reflective of God’s view of what is just and right. As we listen to God’s Word today, we hear that God’s justice and mercy is available to all people. “Even the dogs eat the scraps” cried the woman. This woman clearly puts her faith into action. She amplifies our First Reading that not only should all people be welcome in God’s house while we are in the world, we are urged to do what is right and just.
As of this writing, this may or may not be the first Sunday of our Live-Stream Mass from our Church. The audio/visual technicians were in last Tuesday to install the sound and synchronize it with the internet.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Gary Woodington, our Maintenance and Facilities Director for all of the hard work he has put in over a 14 year period on the Corpus Christi Church campus. Gary has been the consummate professional in my four years here as Pastor. He always got the job done and he will be missed by the staff and those that knew him. May God bless you, Gary, in your retirement!
May God bless you all,
Father John
