My dear friends in Christ,
Today, Jesus enters Jerusalem with crowds, celebrating, praise, blessing, peace—joy fills the air. Holy Week begins with the festive procession as people with olive branches welcome Jesus. The hearts of the simple, the humble, the poor, the forgotten, those who do not matter much in the world have been given hope. Jesus knows our sufferings and goes to great lengths to heal our body and soul. This is Jesus. This is the heart which looks to all of us, to our sicknesses, to our sins. Jesus’ love is great. In recognition, we wave palms and branches at our friend, brother, and king. We want to follow Him. Now here comes the hook. In Reflections by Pope Francis, the question is asked: “Who are you”, or “Who am I, where is my heart?” By the end of the week, this celebration will bring us into the mystery of Jesus’ death and resurrection. So who are you? Who am I? Are we willing to enter into this Holy Week and be “all in” with Jesus or will we be like the disciples who understand nothing and fell asleep while the Lord was suffering? Where will your heart be? Will we give that extra time in prayer and allow our hearts to accompany Jesus knowing all the while that we are being carried on his shoulders for the salvation of our souls? May this Easter reveal us of ourselves.
Preliminary information on the Fish Fry Dinner is that all 200 tickets were sold. A complete recap of the event will be in next week’s bulletin. For those who will be traveling, may you have a Blessed Easter!!
May God bless you all!
Fr. John
