My dear friends in Christ,
October has been traditionally known as the Month of The Rosary. The feast of “Our Lady of The Rosary” is attributed to a vision of the Blessed Mother to Saint Dominic. The Rosary (“rose garden”) is called the “Psalter of Mary” because its 150 “Aves” (all 15 decades) correspond to the number of psalms. The Rosary has been called the “Jesus Prayer” of Western Catholicism. While saying the prayers of each decade, the person meditates on the mysteries of our Lord and Lady’s life. In addition to the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries, St. Pope John Paul II recommended that the Luminous Mysteries be recited on Thursdays. These “Mysteries of Light” are drawn from the life of Christ, and the public revelation of His divine nature and mission. Please make time to pray the Rosary this month for peace in the world.
Faith to Move Mountains update: We have received two checks from the Diocese with a third check pending. I have asked the Facilities Manager to make an assessment on the work that needs to be done regarding the Walkway and Curb repair. The plan calls for $50,000 to be allocated for this work. We will solicit bids and once the Diocese is informed and the bid accepted, work will begin next Spring. Hopefully, by that time we will have received additional rebate checks and can begin to address the renovation of the Church hallway restrooms. That type of interior work would be done when the Regional School is on summer break.
If you have not done so, please return your Super 50/50 Raffle books. The drawing will take place at the Oktoberfest Beef & Beverage Dinner on October 28th.
May God bless you all!
Father John
