My dear friends in Christ,
For those in ministry, serving a worshipping community for any length of time can be a challenging task. Many of us can remember a time when we were on the receiving end of a critical comment. Maybe it was something we said or how we treated someone that triggered a negative response. Whatever the reason, few things rattle our nerves more than a complaint from the pew. I can’t say that I receive many, but there have been a couple of times here and there. The cost of ministry can be a high one. Little or no time off to spend with family or friends and high stress levels may cause us to wonder why we chose this path. Still, like Jesus’ disciples, we persevere in our ministries with a servant’s heart, undeterred.
I would like to thank all who made our ”60 Years of Grace in Christ” Dinner Dance a huge success. Special thanks to Cassie Brown and her team for selling the tickets and to Sandra Yearwood for providing the posters and advertisements. I thanked everyone else at Mass and at the Dinner. If I missed anyone, I apologize.
And finally, July 1st (which happens to be my birthday), marks the beginning of my 4th year here at Corpus Christi as your Pastor. I thank you all for your support and ask that you continue to pray for me as we enter into these summer months. Please know that I pray for all of you and for our Parish every day!
May God bless you all!
Father John
