My dear Friends in Christ,
Some find it interesting that Jesus’ prophecy is being fulfilled even in our own time. The amount of unrest among people, and even in nature itself is frightening. We are taught a message of “love your neighbor as yourself” and yet we see so much violence and bloodshed in the streets of major cities. There is so much turbulence and destruction. Jesus’ words about the end of time can be very disturbing when he foretells the destruction of the physical Temple in Jerusalem. What replaces the Temple? What can give us hope? Pope Francis has highlighted the need for compassion in our dealings with one another. This intervention by Pope Francis may be seen as coming from Jesus, when He said “I will give you words and wisdom that none of your opponents can withstand or contradict.” We look forward to the time when nothing can separate us from the love of God—neither death, nor things present, nor things to come, nor anything in creation.
Annual Catholic Appeal Update: $29,037.00 has been pledged which is 58% of our $50,000.00 goal. There are 156 donors thus far. It is not too late to make a pledge.
This is a busy weekend as we have the Food Drive and the “In Thanksgiving” Dinner Dance. We need volunteers to help box up food after Masses. If you can stay for a few minutes and help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Advent is right around the corner and we need families to light the candles on the Advent Wreath. The sign-up sheet is in the hall.
May God bless you all,
Father John
