My dear friends in Christ,
Jesus asks a tough question: “How can Satan drive out Satan?” There might be many answers to this question but they could be summed up into one short answer: love one another and help one another. There are so many evil minds in the world. You would be surprised at those who use the divide and conquer method to gain an advantage or get what they want. Today’s first reading from Genesis tells us that God will make it easy for us to follow Him. We have to be willing to be under His tree, under His protection. We must be willing to love, nurture, and work with one another to build up God’s kingdom. And we must pray often and always.
Thank you to everyone who made Father Lennon’s farewell reception such a joyous and memorable event. We love and will miss Father Lennon. We thank him for his 23+ years of service here at Corpus Christi. Please keep Father Lennon in your prayers as he retires to his Motherhouse in Techny, Illinois.
The weekend of June 23/24th is our Annual Mission Appeal. Religious sisters from the Servants of the Plan of God will be here to tell us about their missionary work. We look forward to welcoming them to our Parish. And finally, last week I wrote about the money that is returned to us as you, the faithful, fulfill your pledges to Faith to Move Mountains and the Annual Catholic Appeal. $9,995 of those returns was used to replace the twenty three year old central air conditioning system in one of our buildings on Sylvan Lane. Trust me when I tell you “it was time!”
May God bless you all!
Father John
