My dear Friends in Christ,
God’s wisdom is not the same as our own wisdom. In the first reading we hear that God has the power to remove the mighty form their positions of leadership. In the second reading Paul tells us that we cannot know the mind of God, as his wisdom and knowledge are beyond us. The Gospel reveals: "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it “. It was God who revealed Jesus’ identity to Peter. Did Peter really understand the depth of his words when he said “You are the Christ, Son of the living God”. Peter may have stumbled multiple times, but he clearly loves the Lord. Jesus did not build his Church on sand. He built His church on rock. It is Jesus who built it and Peter who cooperated. Jesus affirms his authority and Peter recognizes Jesus’ divine nature and purpose through his act of faith. Jesus blesses Peter as the foundation and that same Church still stands today. It reaches souls around the world and will remain until the Lord comes again. The forces of darkness can't break the cornerstone of the Church, our faith! Jesus Calls his followers like you and me, to do our part and spread the Gospel. He implores us to go into the world and continue the work He began with Peter. We only have to be ready for that grace .He will never abandon us.
God bless you all,
Father John
