My dear friends in Christ,
Why wasn’t the unnamed woman in today’s Gospel identified? Was it because she would not waiver in her faith commitment or be persuaded by pressure from the crowd? Was it because her determination and her being steadfast in her faith allowed her not to take “no” for an answer? Was it because she may have been marginalized and labeled as an outcast? Or could it be that she was just plain stubborn? She may not have been named but we come to see that she was presented as having more faith than the close companions of Jesus whose names are known. She would not stop until she had touched the cloak of Jesus! And immediately she was healed! Jairus, the official, begged Jesus to save his daughter and his request was granted because of his faith. His faith commitment allowed him to place his total trust in Jesus. Oh that we could have the faith of these two individuals.
Sisters of the Servants of the Plan of God will be with us on the weekend of August 11/12 to tell us about their ministry and missionary work.
There are many dates available in our Mass Book. If you would like a Mass said for a loved one, please call or stop by the office. Also, if you would like to have the Sanctuary Lamp or would like to purchase flowers for the altar, please call the rectory office.
And finally, July 1 st is always an exciting and humbling day for me as I become one year older. It also marks my 2nd anniversary here with you at Corpus Christi! Pray for me!
May God bless you all!
Father John
