My Dear Friends in Christ,
World Mission Sunday will be celebrated next weekend. Bishop O’Connell will be here to celebrate the 11:00AM mass on October 22, 2023. World Mission Sunday is an annual global celebration within the Catholic Church, observed on the second to the last Sunday of October. This special day is dedicated to the missionary work of the Church through prayer and sacrifices. Established by Pope Pius XI in 1926, World Mission Sunday is an opportunity for every Church community worldwide to express solidarity with our brothers and sisters living in mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe. This year’s theme is “Hearts on Fire, Feet on the Move”! Pope Francis invites us to set our hearts ablaze with faith and put our faith into action, serving God’s mission with joy, enthusiasm, and tireless dedication. October is dedicated to the Rosary. A great way to honor the work of the missions is to pray the World Mission Rosary. This Rosary honors the work of the missionaries and fosters peace through its special emphasis on each of the Earth’s regions, where prayers are needed and for all people who live, play and pray like us! Let us continue to pray for the success of the Church’s missionary efforts, missionary priest, religious brother and sisters, and lay people. Your financial support will help fund missionary work and activities around the world. Please be as generous as your means may allow.
May God bless you all,
Father John
