My dear friends in Christ,
Our faith teaches us to profess as Peter did, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” We await a response from Jesus like the one that He gave Peter: “Upon this rock I will build my church.” In these days of uncertainty and the difficult moments that we currently endure, how can we become the rock that Jesus needs to build His church on? Do we continue to show love to those that we live with or do we allow this pandemic to create unrest in the home? Are we kind to those that we see — even those wearing masks at stores, in Church, or places that we visit? Do we show patience to those who need it or are we abrupt and give the old brush off? Do we use social media to build God’s kingdom up or do we use it to tear the kingdom down? Anxiety levels are very high these days and the longer this pandemic goes on, the less tolerant we become. Now is the time to be the example and the “rock” that Jesus wants us to be. Jesus has chosen us to be the rock on which to build His church. Sometimes Deacon Mike concludes Mass with “Go in peace glorifying the Lord by your life.” By doing this, we will be the example that Jesus calls us to be.
The RCIA program will begin soon. If you know anyone who would like to become Catholic or who needs Sacraments, please call the Rectory or see Mary or myself after Mass on the weekend.
May God bless you all,
Father John
