My dear friends in Christ,
St. Paul tells us emphatically that love never fails! This Scripture sounds much different when we read outside the context of a wedding. It makes it obvious that of all the many things we do, loving is paramount. We are called to keep patience, kindness, truth, and endurance in the forefront of our minds, while putting aside anger, jealousy, and envy. People present us with needs. Some of these needs require unqualified love. How difficult is that for us? Jesus’ heart was wide enough to love us all! Can we do the same?
Parish Finance Council Update: The parish accountant met with us. The Christmas collection was $5,000 less than last year. Hoping Easter will offset the deficit. Our FTMM Campaign allowed us to get estimates on the curb work and parking lot repair. We have three ranging from $55,000 to $77,000. We are also getting estimates on the hallway rest rooms in order to bring them to code and make them handicap accessible. These projects will commence in the spring after the school year ends and the weather is warmer. An inquiry was made for a monthly 50/50 raffle to go along with our annual 50/50 raffle. That is under review to be discussed at the next meeting. In setting our budget for next year, we will no longer have monthly collections for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Effective July 1, 2019 the collection will be quarterly on the 3rd Sunday of August, November, February and May. Saint Vincent de Paul will continue to receive the weekly Poor Box donations. Parish Debt Reduction envelopes will continue.
May God bless you all!
Father John
