My dear friends in Christ,
True and deep faith in God can be elusive, even for those of us who attend Mass regularly. We have so much to do with so little time to do it. Faith in God is key to our existence. We have numerous tasks and pressures, yet all our work must be done in the context of a mature, and maturing, faith. When we are busy we may be tempted to shorten our time for prayer. We’re less likely to listen to someone who stops by with a problem. Over time we become more anxious and we lose patience — an important and concrete sign of love — with other staff, our families, and even ourselves. Ultimately, we cease being grateful for what we have and focus on ourselves and the many tasks we have to do. With faith in God we can meet each day, each task and each interruption with joy and hope! He has blessed us by allowing us to serve Him and His people through our humble gifts. May our faith increase! May we always continue to pray for one another.
This weekend is our annual Mission Appeal. We are pleased to have with us Father Joey Aguilar from the Diocese of Virac in the Philippines. It is a small diocese consisting of 26 parishes with about 50 priests and was founded in 1974. Please help me in welcoming Father Joey to Corpus Christi and please be as generous as your means will allow.
May God bless you all!
Father John
