My dear friends in Christ,
And so here we are at the end of another school year. Summer is just around the corner. Vacations are being planned and everyone is looking forward to relaxing for a week or two. The parable of the growing seed identifies a mystery that even the advanced farmer or scientist has trouble comprehending. How does the process of germination work? We know that it can’t be controlled. Seeds can’t sprout grain a day before its appointed time. They must be patient and trust. We must allow ourselves to grow in virtue and holiness so that we are made ready for the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of God is not a human achievement, it is a divine work.
We recently concluded our Religious Education Program for the year. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Mrs. Jackie Young and her assistant Judy Schenk for all their hard work. It is with sadness tht I report that Mrs. Young will not be returning next year as God’s plan for her is taking her on a new journey in her faith life. When I came here two years ago, we did not have a CRE and Mrs. Young stepped up and resurrected this program to where it is today and I am forever grateful. Thank you Mrs. Young and may God guide you on your journey! The search for a new CRE is underway.
The planned visit by the Sisters of the Servants of The Plan of God scheduled for the weekend of June 23rd/24th has been postponed due to illness and will be rescheduled. And finally, to all Fathers out there: Happy Father’s Day! May God bless you all!
Father John
