My dear friends in Christ,
By celebrating the Sunday following Christmas as The Feast of The Holy Family, The Church encourages us to look to the Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph for inspiration, example and encouragement. They were a model family in which both parents worked hard, helped each other, understood and accepted each other, and took good care of their Child so that He might grow up not only in human knowledge but also as a Child of God. Let us pray for the grace of caring for one anther in our own families, for each member of our parish family, and for all families of The Universal Church. For those families who will be traveling this week, we ask God’s blessing that you will return to and from your destination safely.
As we approach the New Year of Our Lord 2020, there will be a few changes occurring here at Corpus Christi Church. We will no longer have a Saturday morning daily Mass. Confessions will be heard from 3:00 to 3:45 PM on Saturday afternoon or by appointment. This will remain until I can acquire steady weekend assistance. Please keep in prayer the SVD’s who have served our parish for many years. They will be sorely missed.
The St. Vincent de Paul collection will now be taken quarterly. After consulting with our Parish Auditor/ Accountant and Finance Council, it was determined that we, as a parish, can no longer subsidize this effort on a monthly basis. You can still contribute weekly by utilizing the poor boxes in Church. All proceeds go directly to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
On behalf of the entire staff, may you all have a Happy, Healthy and Holy New Year!
May God bless you all,
Father John
