My dear friends in Christ,
Today we celebrate The Epiphany of The Lord. The Wise Men set out to pay homage to the new born king. Their journey took them outside their country and their comfort zone. The Wise Men risked the consequences of destroying Herod, who was known to behave as a madman when provoked and returned to their country by another way. The Wise Men were committed to the journey — wherever the star might lead. They found a baby born to young, relatively poor parents! Not exactly what they expected and not exactly what befit their dignity as priests. In this coming year, may we look to heaven for guidance and comfort and may we accept God’s blessings in whatever forms we find them, just as the Wise Men accepted that their long, expensive journey led them to a baby born to young, inexperienced parents on the poor side of town. They left to spread the good news and we too are called to do the same.
On December 27th the music ministries of Cohort #1 came together for a Concert of caroling here at Corpus Christi Church. It was exactl y what the spirit of the Cohort should be. Special thanks to Renee Hatzold, Rosemary Schmirer, and Verna Zalaney, the respective music directors, for making this such a wonderful celebration. Special thanks to the Children of Pope John Paul II Regional School for their participation.
We will publish the Christmas collection when all returns are in. We did come up short from our total of last year on the day, however, envelopes continue to come in.
May God bless you all!
Father John
