My dear Friends in Christ,
Some children like to climb trees when they play in the yard. Some even build a tree house. I don’t remember ever climbing a tree. I’m just not physically built for that type of activity. We hear the story of Zacchaeus, the tax collector in today’s Gospel. Why would this grown up wealthy man of status in the community have a need to climb a tree? Why would Zacchaeus “go out on a limb?” He was a short man so he could have weaved his way through the crowd to the front. As a despised tax collector, maybe he just wanted Jesus to see him and his odds were better and safer if he got up high. Conversion in his heart had made him want to see Jesus. Conversion is uncomfortable and hard and never quite finished. Jesus looks up, sees him, and tells him to come down so that He could stay at his house. This did not sit well with the crowd for this man was a despised sinner and cheater. At that moment he makes his promise to Jesus to amend his ways. Salvation entered his house and heart that day. Would we do the same?
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, we will have an hour of Eucharistic Adoration from 3:00 to 4:00 PM as part of the Eucharistic Revival.
Are you registered in our Parish? If you are new or have been away for awhile and are now back, we welcome you! We ask that you fill in the on-line registration form or call the Rectory so that we can update our data base and get a better idea of how many parishioners we have.
May God bless you all,
Father John
