My dear friends in Christ,
How many times have you been asked about someone and you responded that “he or she is the salt of the earth”? Jesus challenges his disciples to be “salt of the earth” and “a light to the world.” As we become the salt of the earth, we become a light to the nations. Our words and actions become a prayer, a glorification of God to the world. We must first become salt before we can become a light to those in darkness. There are those who live out their prayer and commitment each and every week in our parish. There are those who give of their time and talent to make our Church a beautiful place of worship.
Recently, I made an appeal for volunteers for our ministries. I received one response for Lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion from one person. I would like to thank “newcomers” Jim and Fran for showing up on Tuesday to help with the cleaning of the Church. And thank you to those who show up like clockwork each week. The total number of responses to my appeal was three. That means that we have some work to do as a parish community of faith.
As we approach Lent and Easter, our music director is looking for guitar players and those who play a flute. If you play any instrument and would like to be part of the wonderful music ministry, please see Renee before or after Mass. In participating, we become the salt of the earth, and a light to all nations!
May God bless you all!
Fr. John
