My dear friends in Christ,
The Pharisees put Jesus to the test yet again by asking his opinion about the Temple tax. Jesus replies, “repay to Caesar what is Caesars and to God what belongs to God.” This phrase is often used to justify a division in society between secular and religious or in our country as distinguishing the separation between Church and State. It’s a commitment that moves far beyond civic obligation and even overrides it. God’s authority present in Jesus the Messiah sets our most fundamental priorities, those of the kingdom.
This Sunday we celebrate World Mission Sunday. World Mission Sunday is a day set aside for the Catholic Church throughout the world to publicly renew its commitment to the missionary movement. We are pleased to be hosting the Mass for the Diocese. We welcome Fr. PJ Alindogan, Diocesan Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith to Corpus Christi Church.
