My dear Friends in Christ,
How many times do we go away sad when we don’t get the answer we want? They young rich man approached Jesus and asked what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him that the answer could be found in the Mosaic Law, a reflection of God’s righteousness. The man told Jesus that he had kept the law all of his life. Jesus then offers the man an invitation to take another bold step on his spiritual journey. Jesus invites him to rid himself of all his possessions and material wealth and share what he had with the poor. Jesus assured the man that he would be rewarded with even greater treasures in heaven. The rich man went away sad because he didn’t want to part with his accumulated possessions. The message for us then is that wealth and material possessions can weigh us down so much that we lose sight of the real goal which is eternal salvation with Our Father in His heavenly kingdom.
The weekend of October 23/24 we will have a Ministry Fair. As Catholics, God’s call to us is a call of Service. It is a call to serve each other by building up His Kingdom through His Church. We are in need of ministers. We need your time and talent! I know that our lives are very busy and we never seem to have enough time. Please prayerfully consider how you can serve our great parish of Corpus Christi by stopping by and joining a ministry.
We welcome back all of our Religious Education Students and their families as we begin this year’s program under the guidance of Mrs. Campbell and her Catechists.
May God bless you all,
Father John
