My dear friends in Christ,
Fans of Social Media would place a # in front of Philip the Apostle and say he is “trending” in Samaria. I’m still trying to learn this and it’s not easy. So what did Philip do to captivate the crowds in this region? His heart was on fire with the “Spirit of truth” promised by Christ! He was filled with the power of love from the Risen Christ and animated by the Spirit that exploded into the world with intensity and enthusiasm through Christ’s own words and deeds. How do we burn with the same spiritual intensity and zeal as Philip? What inspires us to come alive when we engage others in our faith community? What gives us the spiritual fearlessness, intense love, and prudent openness that we see in Philip? If we share the same conviction that we are in Christ and Christ is truly in us, and know that Christ loves us more that we can imagine, we can bring to the world a new hope, a new love. Because God loves us unconditionally, we are imbued with spiritual energy that we need to spread to all that we encounter.
Thursday May 25th is the feast of the Ascension of the Lord. Vigil Mass is on Wednesday May 24th at 7:00pm. Masses on the Holy Day are at 8:00 and 10:00am.
Next Sunday at the 9:30am Mass, we will honor and celebrate Deacon Jim Ayrer’s 25th Anniversary in the Diaconate. A light reception will follow Mass in Bogdan Hall. We ask God’s blessings on Deacon Jim and thank him for all that he does here at Corpus Christi Church. May God bless you all!
