My dear Friends in Christ,
We are an Easter people and love is our song! In our Gospel, Jesus gives His disciples this commandment: “Love one another.” This is arguably one of the more famous statements in Scripture. Even those who are not practicing their faith in the Church know this commandment. Loving one another is part of the Jewish tradition, is present in the Greco-Roman world around them, and is also seen in other religious traditions as well. Loving those with whom we agree and are partial to is simple. Loving the rest of society that we come in contact with is more complicated and harder for us. This is not breaking news — it’s part of the human condition to love and want to be loved. The reality is that it is easier to love those who are more loving and lovable. When John in his old age told people to love one another and was questioned about it, he said, “Because it is what our Lord commanded. If it is all you do, then it is enough.”

Pledge cards are available in the Sacristy if you would like to contribute. Please help us make our goal so that we may receive a nice rebate from the Diocese. Thank you.
