My dear friends in Christ,
In today’s Gospel, Jesus presents himself as the Good Shepherd who knows his sheep, cares for them and lays down his life for them. Being thought of as a ‘sheep’ is not to demean, but to rescue us from thinking too much of ourselves. In what ways does the image of ‘good shepherd’ resonate with me? In what ways do I struggle with this image? We as infants are ‘shepherded’ almost immediately by our parents. Our parents give completely to us as they nourish us and help us to grow. They also guide us so that we don’t become mischievous or get lost. In a nut shell, they give their lives for us just as Jesus gave His life for us and for the world. And this is done all out of love!
Because of your generosity, Corpus Christi Parish is making tremendous progress in reaching our goal for the Annual Catholic Appeal 2021! Our efforts will help the varied ministries of our Diocese, such as Catholic Charities and support for retired clergy and religious. Please understand that if we reach our goal of $50,000 Corpus Christi will receive a rebate from the Diocese. Thanks to those who have already donated. Together we can do this! Please see the related article update in this bulletin.
Thanks to the Knights of Columbus and all who worked on and participated in the Food Drive held here last weekend.
Please pray for the children of our parish who will receive their First Holy Communion this weekend.
May God bless you all,
Father John
