My dear friends in Christ,
When we are having a bad day and feeling down and out, we have all heard someone say to us: “God never gives us more than we can handle.” They mean well but it really may not help the situation. We do know that in the midst of turmoil or rough times, God knows our strengths and weaknesses and will never abandon us. This is the great mercy He shows to us. I bet if we knew what life would be like with its moments of pain, confusion and uncertainty, then we would be paralyzed and unable to begin. What couples would marry and have children if they knew what was in store? Who would become a priest or religious if they knew what was in store? Think of this, if we had never begun, we would never have experienced moments of joy. Like the Holy Trinity, much of life is difficult to explain. We need to trust in the sacred wisdom of God who sees a larger picture, who holds the master plan.
We are looking to put committees together for the following ministries: Arts and Environment which will include decorating the Church seasonally and a Fundraising Committee which will brainstorm ideas for raising money for our Church. With the projects we have coming up (bathroom renovation, new carpeting, choir relocation, etc.), we have to look for ways to increase Church revenue. Our collections can no longer carry our expense load. More on this in an upcoming bulletin.
Tickets for our 60th Anniversary Dinner Dance are lagging, so we need your help! Our guests include Fr. Lennon and two Episcopal Vicars, one of whom was a former Pastor here. So get yours now!!!
May God bless you all!
Father John
