My dear Friends in Christ,
On this Second Sunday of Advent, we read the following in St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans: “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Paul speaks of the internal and collective harmony that flows from life in Jesus Christ. Yet we see disharmony around the world. We see disharmony in our workplaces, our schools, and even our Churches. What does this disharmony mean? It means being discordant or not congenial or compatible. It means carrying a disagreement further than where it should go making a situation or place unpleasant. It could lead to childish outbursts and angry words. This is not what Jesus intended. Jesus intended for the world to be in harmony and to give glory to God. Harmony is a necessary condition for development, progress, fulfillment, overall happiness and survival of both the individual and the group to which he or she belongs. It is what we should strive for as we leave the slumber of darkness and work our way towards the armor of light. Be in accord with Jesus as you prepare for His coming.
The last couple of weeks have shown the age of our building. Approximately $20,000 dollars worth of plumbing and boiler repairs need to be done. Sinks have been repaired and electrical work in the sub-basement has to be replaced and brought up to code. We are putting your offerings to good use.
May God Bless You All,
Father John
