My dear friends in Christ,
Today we celebrate the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year. Pope Pius XI lifted a fist of light almost a century ago in 1925. He saw a world that had pushed Jesus Christ out of public and private life, a world whose only check on itself was the measure of its lust for power and wealth. The pope established the Feast of Christ the King to shine light into a world spinning in the darkness of greed, violence and selfishness. This feast proclaims that Jesus Christ is indeed the King of The Universe, the goal toward which all creation is moving, the constant power that keeps it in existence, the one in whom we are destined to rest forever. We pray that Jesus our Shepherd will carry us, protect us, and hold us close to His heart with more love than we can imagine.
Just a reminder in this time of pandemic that the dispensation from the Bishop to attend Sunday Mass remains and those who are at high risk or exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 should remain at home. We will continue to observe mask wearing, social distancing, washing of hands and sanitization of our Church.
Would the following Lectors please pick up your 2021 Workbook in the Sacristy: Childress, Blackburn-Gruver, Paramore, Ogili-Freeman, Ponisciak, Giple, Siano, Tiene, Turner-Lomax, and Yearwood.
Please pray that our Christmas tree will arrive in time for the annual lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
We wish everyone a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM in the Church.
May God bless you all,
Father John
