My dear friends in Christ,
Last week I wrote about the expenses of our Parish and how our payables exceed our receivables. After consulting with our Parish Accountant and Finance Council, a decision was reached to move our Parish into a more favorable financial position. It is the goal of every Pastor to ensure that the Parish he is called to serve is placed in a viable position. Entering this new fiscal cycle, Corpus Christi Parish is currently operating at a deficit. The deficit dates back to unpaid Diocesan assessments and insurance liability from 2004-2005 and 2012. That coupled with the added co-sponsorship assessment of 2016-2017 for the Regional School means that we have an outstanding debt owed to the Diocese. This does not disappear. With that in mind, we will be establishing a Second Collection each week to help reduce this deficit. We will be adding an envelope for this collection in the near future.
Please read the Saint Vincent de Paul article on the following page. Checks must be “made payable to the St. Vincent de Paul Society” or an indication made on the memo line of the check with SVD or St. Vincent de Paul. The bank will no longer accept checks made payable to Corpus Christi Church for deposit into this account. If SVD is not indicated or checks not made payable to SVD, those checks will be deposited into the regular Church account.
We are making plans to host a Spaghetti Dinner in September. We are also planning our Oktoberfest Beef & Beverage Dinner for late October where our Super 50/50 will be drawn. More details will follow.
May God bless you all!
Fr. John
