Courage

 

My dear friends in Christ,

The Risen Lord had a tremendous impact on the disciples. For us, the readings speak of the meaning of discipleship both in our internal attitudes and in our relating with other people. How often do we recognize the presence of God and of Jesus in our daily life? How often do we witness to our faith with consistency and courage? One flows from the other. To be a genuine disciple of Jesus, it is not enough just to be “holy,” to be good, but to have the courage, when the call comes, to do difficult things and perhaps even to suffer.

 

A FINAL REMINDER: We will host VIRTUS TRAINING this Wednesday evening, May 8, 2019, in Bogdan Hall. Those who must attend according to the Revised Dallas Charter of 2018 are: Religious Education Catechists; hall monitors; and volunteers. SVDP members who make home visits; Members of the Knights of Columbus; PTA members; school volunteers. Parish Clergy; staff members; and volunteers who have contact with children. Those who have access to Sacristies, choir loft and areas where children are present. In a nutshell: All Clergy, Ministers and Volunteers at Corpus Christi should attend. Our Bishop has asked his priests to be compliant and not defiant in this request. Many Pastors have pledged to get all in ministry certified for the Protection of God’s Children and more importantly for ourselves and our parish. You can register at www.virtusonline.org and follow the instructions for First Time Registrants. It’s simple and takes under 5 minutes to complete the process. I thank you all for making the effort to attend this meeting.
