My dear friends in Christ,
There are two themes that stick out in today’s Gospel message. The first is our partnership in ministry and the second is the commissioning of Jesus to preach and heal. We are reminded that it is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who opens our hearts and not only chooses, but unites, us as co-workers in the vineyard. We are called to see our partners in ministry as those who might not always think like or necessarily appreciate what we do or how we do it. With enlightened hearts–in response to our call–are we willing to collaborate and “partner up” with different points of view or preferences? When we “partner up” and proclaim the Gospel entrusted to us, we find the potential for healing wounds and divisions within our communities. Therein lies our hope.
Speaking of partnering up, the RCIA team is looking for those who may be interested in becoming Catholic. They will be hosting an inquiry this weekend. If you know someone who would be a good candidate, we would love to welcome them in the faith here at Corpus Christi Church. We will begin working on our Super 50/50 raffle. This is our biggest fund raiser for our parish. The drawing will once again be held at our Oktoberfest Dinner Dance on October 20, 2018 in Bogdan Hall.
As you continue to enjoy your summer and journey with the Lord, please know that you are in my prayers. If you want to get involved in the various ministries of our parish, we would love to have you.May God bless you all!
Father John
