My dear friends in Christ,
Why is water so important to us? Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. One of the enlightenments of our journey through Lent is the recognition of Christ’s humanity. When we see Christ tired and thirsty, human as we are, we also see our salvation and Savior and are thus empowered to seek forgiveness for our weaknesses, failures and sins. The woman at the well came to fill a pail of water and left by running off to the village to proclaim to the people that she had found the Lord. She recognized Jesus as the Messiah and her personal Savior. She shared Christ’s life giving water. May we do the same on our Lenten journey.
With Coronavirus in the news these days, it’s important that we use water to continuously wash our hands and follow the guidelines of the CDC.
Annual Catholic Appeal Update: To date, we have raised $20,533 in pledges in the first month which is a wonderful start. I am grateful for your generosity in this endeavor. We need a strong showing to maintain our viability and sustainability.
I will address much of what I missed as I return this weekend. Please continue to receive Holy Communion on the hand until further notice from the Diocese.
May God bless you all,
Father John
