My dear friends in Christ,
What does it take for God to get your attention on your journey in the desert during Lent? Moses was intrigued by a flaming bush that didn’t burn, and when he got closer God called his name! Despite his fear, Moses answered “Here I am,” and was blessed with a promise to rescue His people from all their suffering. How often do we sit in prayer trying to get God’s attention by asking and pleading for the impossible! Why do we ask God for things that are unattainable? Why do we ask God for things that we know we should not get or need? Why do we try to do things on our own? God knows what we need. We may not always get it but we must trust always in His help. It is then that we realize that His love for us surpasses all understanding.
This weekend is our Annual Catholic Appeal “kick-off.” Pledge cards are in the pews. I ask you to prayerfully consider sharing your faith by making a gift to this year’s ACA by filling out a pledge card and placing it in the collection basket. By making a gift, you have a part in all we do in Christ’s name as the Diocese of Trenton. Please help me and Corpus Christi Parish in making our goal of $55,000. For those of you who responded by sending in your pledge, I thank you for your generosity. To date, we have $9,839 pledged and collected even before the video presentation. I can’t thank you enough!
May God bless you all!
Father John
